Sambodharanya Shiva Temple

Forest of Enlightenment

Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA

Sambodharanya is the 33-acre pristine forest—embodiment of our ashram deity Shiva-Shakti, and the abode of Karya Siddhi Hanuman. Our Shiva mandap is designed in solid granite stone by S. Nandakumar, according to the scriptural injunctions, turning a mystic black in the wet season. In 2024 the prana pratishtha was performed for Shiva and Hanuman, creating a container of lasting energy that the local community can benefit from. Our temples are open for all from 8:30AM–8:30PM, where the devotee has direct access to the deity, allowed to worship in their own way. Contact us for more info and to schedule a puja or homa.

Sambodharanya Hanuman

A Rare Gift

Shiva and Hanuman Came to Us

Sambodharanya Shiva arrived on the grounds in 1999 as a gift from Sivaya Subramuniyaswami all the way from Kauai, Hawaii. Ever since, we've dedicated ourselves to perform the Rudrabhishekam and Chandi Homa, honoring our cosmic parents Shiva-Shakti, annually in the first weekend of August. Karya Siddhi Hanuman came to us in the summer of 2024 and we celebrated our first ever Hanuman Jayanti on April 12, 2025.
